To contain these demonstrations, the elements of the Congolese National Police, (PNC), deployed on ground make use in particular of tear gas.

However, the police deplore the violence used by the students to express their dissatisfaction.

The assistant divisional commissioner, Sylvano Kasongo, reports that a group of students set fire to a vehicle of a chief of works of the Higher Institute of Medical Techniques, (ISTM).

“Earlier, the UNIKIN students just torched the car of an ISTM construction manager and destroyed the infrastructure of the ISTM,” said General Sylvano Kasongo.

The Kinshasa chief of police immediately called on the students to show nationalism by ceasing to use violence.

Remember also that at the Triangle stop, another student march was dispersed by the police with tear gas.
